A blood test measures the presence of estrogen and progesterone in the body, an d if the levels of hormones drop, this confirms that the woman is approaching that stage. At the same time, a blood test indicates the level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), which is produced by the pituitary gland to help the ovaries release eggs.
